30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 30

It's the final day of the 30 day snap! I honestly can't believe I actually made it to the end. I feel proud of my achievement and that I have documented, for the most part, a month of my life whether that be through photographs or words. I'm not going to lie, it has been hard work and finding inspiration from some testing days to produce an image I am proud to share was difficult. So to avoid boring you with self praise, lets quickly move on to the final installment of this challenge.

Today, all photography students at my school went on a workshop with The Guernsey Photography Festival where we were given a presentation at Castle Cornet and then explored Mill Street in town to take some photos based on the theme 'faith, family and community.' Castle Cornet is now used as a museum so on our break, a couple of friends and I ventured around the castle grounds and sneaked into one of the exhibits. My friend has a fear of wax works and the whole place is said to be haunted so we were all a little scared and held each others hands as we walked slowly through. We weren't in there long before we could hear foot-steps. We all began to panic. Could this be a ghost? Would we make it back? As we reached the corner, expecting the worst, we let out a yelp as we saw one of the employees slowing passing through. Not the ghost we had expect but our hearts were still racing. Needless to say we got out of there as soon as we could.

This particular image was taken at the top of Mill Street. This large gate covered the doorway to a clothes shop that helps support cancer. It was closed but I found the detail on the metal interesting and liked how the ribbons added subtle colour. There are loads of little shops up that road that I really must visit more often.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 29

Should 'Sketchy Sundays' be a thing? I'm still not one hundred percent sure but I really love drawing and want to share more of my artistic side here on my blog. I've been contemplating it all day but I need anothers opinion. So please comment your thoughts as well as your guesses of todays portrait. Also, do you have any requests. I really struggled picking someone to draw today, there are just too many people in the world to pick from so some help would be very much appreciated.

Sorry, I'm asking a lot from you guys today. I hope you don't mind but I really appreciate you taking the time to chat in the comments.

P.s Last weeks post was in fact Zoella. I'm a huge fan of her blog.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 28

Bit of a cloudy day.

I had a realisation today, I really dislike my bedroom. It's a mess and very unpersonalised. Clothes are all over the place as I don't own enough hangers to hang them in my wardrobe and all my belongings live on the floor as there are no shelves or boxes for them to live. The walls are big and bare plus the ever growing crack in my ceiling is a continual concern of mine. I don't even own a mirror. On top of all that, the only thing keeping my door closed from the draft is a boot as my door has been broken for the past four or five years. I just have no idea how to fix it.

I've been living here for about seven years but it feels as though this room has never been finished. However, I plan to change this over the summer. Sticking up some shelves; shifting through charity shop gems; and hanging some pictures/paintings on the unbearablely empty walls pretty much sums up what I plan to do all summer. I literally can't wait to finally get this room sorted out.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 27

I found these midi rings just sat in my room gathering dust, reminding me of how little I wear them. They were half price from New Look (a total bargain) but they are a tad too big for my abnormally small hands. However, they add a little extra to an outfit and I really must wear them more.

It was a weird day at school today. I had hardly any lessons due to our art and photography work being moderated by an external examiner. So instead, our photography lesson unintentionally turned into a little High School Musical sing-a-long (don't judge you love it really). There were only three of us (we normally have a jammed packed class of 5. Haha, so many people have dropped!) and YouTube was open on the laptop. So naturally, our first thought was Frozen. Pitch Perfect and Lizzie Mcguire were also on the playlist as well as gushing over Zac Effron in HSM. I now have 'Bet On It' on replay in my brain and I don't even care.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 26

Today was a good day. My friends and I headed to Waitrose for lunch and my lovely friend brought me some custard yum yums (real name and they are delicious!) and a hot chocolate as well as getting my other friend a tea. We are so loved.

Art Board
It was also exhibition day and I invited a few friends to tour though our very talented schools exhibition. Every display was faultless which makes me feeling a little nervous about mine. The standard is so high and I'm not convinced mine quite meets that standard. Nether the less, I'm happy with my displays (I was lucky enough to get three boards for all my work) and thought I'd share a few with you here, since you were unable to attend. All the work is mine as I didn't know if anyone would be happy with me posting their work up on here (no-one knows I write this) and I hope you like.
Photography board 1. There was another set of images but they featured people in my
year and I wasn't sure if they'd be happy appearing on here so didn't want to risk it.
Photography board 2. I had to break a mirror to make these images so I hope the 7
years of bad luck is worth the grade.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 25

So, I've edited this photo as the original was very dark but now it looks a tad artificial. Sorry. I just really liked the dress I wore today. The Mary Quant style flower pattern really appealed to me and, although it's a tad big, I like the skater dress shape and the blue colour.

Today was another busy day. I've spent most of it putting up my art and photography work for the school exhibition tomorrow. This was a lot more stressful than I originally thought it would be. I'm not particularly found of most of my art pieces so picking a select few to put up was difficult for me, but I had a lot of help from my friend and she kept me calm. Photography was not as straight forward. I like my photography work but a one of my pieces started to fall apart. Needless to say I was beginning to panic a little so went up to the photography room to fix it (rather than stay in the manic hall where everyone was rushing around, putting up their work). Everything is up now and I am happy with it all. As my work is spread all around the hall, I'll take some photos tomorrow so you can see it of you would like. It's nothing special but it took a lot of hard work so I'm proud.

After school. me and a few friends headed up to the cinema to watch The Fault in our Stars. I loved the book and the film was not a disappointment. It stays true to the book too which I personally think made it better. I'd never read a book before seeing the film version before so this was a new experience for me. I'm not sure if this really changed my view on the story as when I originally read the book I already knew the ending. Nether the less, it was a beautiful film. Amazing sound track too. Didn't cry though. I must have a heart of stone.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 24

A very exhausting day today. My team got absolutely thrashed at Rounders today at our PEP sports event. I mentioned this last week I think but basically my team's Country is Jamaica and we dressed a tourists (well most of us, great effort guys!) and we have to do a series of sports events until end of term. Our team is currently 13th out of 14 so we are not completely failing but could be better. We aren't really sporty people. Go team!

This week is my schools Art Exhibition so, after school, I helped start set it up. This meant putting up all the boards for the work to be displayed on. As hardly any volunteers turned up it took twice as long as originally planned. It's a lot of lifting too and I'm not all that strong. However, we finished and everything is ready to have work put up for display. But that's tomorrows job.

When I got home I started feeling ill so gave dance a miss. *sad face* I think I just need to get some rest and will hopefully feel better in the morning. Seeing this little flower bud in my garden when I got home cheered me up, though. Can't wait to see it open.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 23

Another day of school. Not very interesting blog content. I had a maths class outside, but other than that it was a typical Monday. My obsession for the sunset continues, however, with another stunner today. Unfortunately, my phone camera doesn't do it justice and my shakey hand and zoom gives a slight pixelated quality. Sorry, I'll get a better image up tomorrow.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 22

Although I had zero motivation today, it's been fairly productive. I did some homework in my garden in order to make the most of the sunshine, but other than that I have literally done nothing else. Being a student isn't always the most interesting thing. However, I hope you find my drawing a little more interesting. Homework can get really boring so I like to break it up with either a little internet break or sketching session. Sketchy Sunday. That could be a new series. Might rethink the name though.

Can you guess who it is?

Saturday 21 June 2014

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 21

Relaxed day today. Although I have so much to do, I feel that I'm getting overwhelmed far too easily at the moment so I've decided I really need a break and have opted out of studying today. Homework is just going to have to wait.

After a much needed lay-in, I began the day with a little pamper session. I had a few products that I hadn't had the time to try up until now so it was nice to finally try them out. The first was the new Garnier Ultimate Blends 1 Minute Treatment conditioner (the sleek restorer) which I could not be more happy with. My hair feels really silky and healthy as well as appearing to have gained some volume, which was quite unexpected but very much welcomed. Not only that, but it is also coconut scented and now my hair smells amazing. I also tried out a new face-mask from Good Things. It contains manuka honey which is supposed to have healing qualities, so I'm hoping it's going to help heal the massive spots I keep cutting on my face. Really ought to sort out my jaggered nails.

What wasn't relaxing, however, was finding a giant spider crawling into my towel  as I was about to pick it up. That is the last thing you want to see when you have just removed your face mask. Well, that or you've had an allergic reaction to the face-mask (that has happened a few times to me). I had to call my mum up as I was too scared to pick up the towel. I'm not scared of spiders as such, I just really dislike holding insects so prefer to use the 'upturned glass and random piece of card' option when taking them out. However, these items weren't hanging around my bathroom at the time and I didn't feel brave enough to sneak pass the spider-infested towel to the door and get a glass from downstairs myself. I'm such a scaredy cat!

Other than that, I have spent the day either watching YouTube videos or eating ice-cream in my sunny garden. Have you ever tried the Cadbury Crunchy ice-creams with the popping candy in the chocolate shell. They are my favourite at the minute and the perfect treat on a day like today. Also, my eagle eyed mum found a four leaf clover in the garden today and insisted I take a photo. Very proud of her find. Not as good as my sister though, she found a six leaf clover in our garden once. Insane. She also found enough four leaf clovers to give all her friends one on their last day of Primary school. Too cute!

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 20

Beautifully sunny day for the sixth form garden party today. Sandwiches, cake, inflatables and a whole lot of sunshine. All I needed was some friends...

I was a little disappointed that none of my friends were bothered about the garden party and I nearly didn't attend myself because of this. However, I managed to convince one of my friends to join me and we knew a few people already there so I didn't end up alone. We played giant Jenga, something I don't think I'd played before but it was fun and I didn't loose (for a change).

However, these people also ditched and, after convincing my friend to stay a little longer, we met up with a few more people who had just finished their lessons (our school timetable means that not everyone has lunch at the same time) and then went on the boxing ring. We aren't very violent people so we just treated it as a bouncy castle and I felt like a little kid again. So much fun. Very tiring though. And hot. So much sun!

Walking home with a friend, we found these ducks summing around in the Water Lanes. It was a little weird as I've never seen ducks in there before as it's fairly shallow. Nether the less, I thought they were so adorable following each other around and couldn't resist taking a few photos. I did get a few strange looks for it though. Does no one else think ducks are cute?

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 19

Right now, I should be in a tap class but my sister has an exam tomorrow so is busy revising meaning I would get a different bus than usual (we would normally go together) and I've now missed that second bus. Oops. I hope no-one minds too much.

Today has been a better day, but still fairly boring so I won't go into that much detail. My friend needed models for her photography shoot so myself and another friend of mine graciously volunteer. While she went to pick up the studio key, us 'volunteers' hid behind the studio curtain waiting for her arrival to make her jump. We are naughty, especially since the class next door could hear our friend scream in fear. Teehee. It's the silly little things that make your day.

As it is still wonderfully sunny, I took the opportunity to sit in the garden this evening wearing these stylish shades whilst eating a Kitkat Chunky. I forgot how good they are. Also, I have no idea why I have party popper streamers. I just found them lying around in my room and thought they would add a little fun to todays photo.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 18

Such an unproductive day. I haven't done any work since I returned home after school and now I'm feeling a little guilty about that.

As per usual, it wasn't an eventful day. I am, however, becoming increasingly lonely in class. Everyone on my table in maths has now dropped the subject, leaving me completely alone. I feel slightly cursed as it seems to be only people on my table dropping out. Am I really that bad to sit next to?

I got my macro lens out again and started taking photos in my garden as it was lovely and sunny. However I just couldn't get a snap I was satisfied with and moved on inside to try again. Still unsatisfied, I transferred a couple of photos to my phone and tested some filters. I'm still disappointed with my effort and probably more disappointed with the lame and mundane description I just gave you of this whole ordeal. Ordeal might be a slightly over-dramatic name for it, but I'm going with it. I must try harder.

P.s. Have you heard the news? Zoe Sugg, aka blogger Zoella, is releasing a book later on this year. I really struggle with reading but I know this book is going to be amazing. Who else is excited?

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 17

Right now, I'm sat in front of my TV watching Bad Education (this show reminds me so much of high school it's unreal. Hilarious too!). I hope you don't mind that this is turning into a slight journal/diary thing, however I had a unusually active day and I want to share it.

As a sort of summer project for our sixth forms Personal Enrichment Program, also known as PEP, we have split ourselves into teams for a series of sports events. My mind has gone completely blank on the name of this thing but each team had to choose a Country to support and dress accordingly for some light-hearted fun. Our team is Jamaica so we attempted to dress as Usain Bolt for todays volley ball match. Yeah, none of us really looked like runners and we pretty much failed at volley ball but it was a bit of a laugh and I did score some points for my team. Good team player right here.

I also had a pretty exhausting dance class made extra tiring by aching from yesterdays class and the volley ball match today. However, the beautiful orange/pink sky on the journey home cheered me up. I love a good sunset.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 16

It's all work and no play at the moment and I'm not a fan of this unequal balance. It's not that I hate school but I've grown tired and feel I need a break from it. (I know, it's only Monday and I've been back from study leave for just a week and I'm already asking for a break!) I enjoy my subjects but I'm not a fan of the summer heat that, to be fair, has toned down a little today. I forgot how exhausting summer is. Not that I'm complaining, bring on the sun... please.

However, school work and homework is boring so I needed to find something else in this average and non-eventful day to highlight. Well, who doesn't love a good perfume? This is the one I'm using currently from Marc Jacobs. I am such a huge fan of Daisy that I decided to try more from the collection. I hadn't heard much about Daisy Delight (pictured above) so was intrigued to try it out. It was love at first spritz. It's a tad stronger than the originally but it still has that light fresh scent and I think I spray just as much (I know I spray too much but I can't help myself!). I couldn't recommend it more if you're looking for a new perfume for the summer months.

I'm sorry that I suck at this challenge and my life is incredibly boring. I thought that this time, without the stress of exams, I would be able to actually do stuff and take interesting photos but school has gotten in the way. I guess this is just an accurate representation of me; life sucks but here's something positive about my day to remind me it's not all bad. There are more events coming up at school so maybe I'll capture something vaguely more interesting for you soon.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 15

Another day spent doing school work. The crazy exciting times that is sixth form, haha. This is the beginning of my A-Level art book which I've decided to do on fashion. I can't wait to start this project, it's unreal. I haven't done anything like this for my school work before so I'm hoping it's going to go well but only time will tell.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 14

Fish and chips (minus the chips, not a fan) with this stunning view in the beautiful Guernsey sunshine with friends, what more could a girl ask for? After our food,  we got the bus to the cinema and met with another of our friends to watch 22 Jump Street. Really funny film and a great way to finish such a nice day.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 13

Hottest day of the year apparently. Spent the afternoon attempting homework in my garden but I felt like like I was melting away so made my way back indoors. I much prefer evenings in the summer. Fish and chips on the beach at sunset please!

I forgot how much I enjoy making my little scrapbooks for photography. The idea is to collect images around a certain theme and gather information about associated artists as a starting point for a project. The theme I've been given this time is Faith, Family and Community which is a tricky one but its a work in progress and I'm sure I'll get some ideas soon enough.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 12

In art today, I made a discovery. I opened my pencil case and found this Mr Men pencil. No idea why I have it but I knew that I had to sharpen it and use it straight away. I'm just too cool for school.

It's been another fairly average day, apart from my ground breaking discovery of course. Had my photo taken for my citizen card (I hope it turns out better then my student card); melted away most of my lessons; dying of heat exhaustion after tap class and now I'm struggling to type the letter a without hitting caps-lock. It's been a long day.

I did start writing another paragraph but, at my current state of tiredness, it's a whole lot of gobbley-goop so I'll stop here. Goodnight.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 11

I got my macro extension tube out today after school today. It's been a long day, dragged out more by humidity. I swear my school doesn't have air conditioning. Being stuck in the classroom on days like this sucks, it feels a bit of a shame not to be out in the sun while its here as it doesn't always last that long here in Britain. However, I plan on dragging my friends outside for lunch tomorrow for a little sunbathe.

I'm still not very good with the macro lens yet but I feel I'm improving a little. I'm going to catch up a little on some blog reading on my only free evening. See you again tomorrow.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 10

The exam wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I'm still not confident with it. At least it's all over now. Just another 4-5 weeks of school and the it's summer holidays. Yay. Today is another sky picture (on my phone again so the quality isn't the best!). I took this at my bus stop at around 9pm. I love how light it is in the evenings now and I'm a sucker for a colourful sky.

Being back at school and dance has meant I haven't had time as of yet to catch up on all things blog related but hopefully tomorrow I'll get back on track. However, now I've got to finish my homework (literally finished my exams today and I'm already behind on homework. *sad face*) and then off to bed.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 9

Just a real quick one as I have my final *hopefully* AS exam tomorrow morning and I'm rushing to get all prepared for the early morning wake-up. This is I think the first image of the challenge that was actually taken outside of my home (I do go outside often, I promise). I was really early for my bus so took some pictures of the flowers around town, this was taken right outside town church as a little background info for you there. ;)

I'm sorry I'm really lagging on catching up on comments and following everyone on their challenge but once I've finished my exams I'll have a bit more time to get back on track with the whole blogging business. Please feel free to leave a link to your blog if your taking part so I know exactly where to go first! :) (Two smileys in one post? I am spoiling you!)

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 8

Today was my Mamma's birthday! We ate cake and a lot of chocolate. I hope she had a wonderful day.I got her a new sketchbook as she is always telling me how she wants to get back into drawing after seeing me do all my art coursework.

I also made her a card because I'm creative and thoughtful (did not forget to buy one and had to draw it at around one this morning, nope.) I would ask you to guess who it is but I'm unsure how likely it is you guys will know who it is. It's Gerard Way from the band My Chemical Romance (my Mums favourite band) and she was very happy with it. However, I'm not too sure on it and I'm a little reluctant sharing my art on here. I'm not very confident with my art skills and I don't really achieve high grades in the subject but I really love drawing. I usually draw Disney characters and post them on Instagram but I've not never really done a drawing like this before but my Mum liked it so I guess its okay.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 7

Yet another day of revision. Bleugh! Yawn, I know. However, the sun was out so I relaxed in the sun for awhile with my camera and took some pictures.

I'm so tired. I was up at 3am this morning because of a lightning storm. The lightning was so bright, every strike illuminated the whole room and made sleeping through it impossible. In the end I gave up and just watched out of my window, attempting to record some awesome lightning (failed massively). However, this storm seemed to magically disappear by the time I woke up. British weather is so unpredictable.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 6

Another day spent wallowing at home. I decided to do a practice paper for my maths exam next week (woop woop, hardcore) but completely failed and lost all motivation to continue. I've spent two solid weeks revising and I'm still failing. *sad face* I just have to keep reminding myself that it'll all be over very soon.

To explain the photo, I don't have a dressing table or a shelf to but all my junk so I just display them on boxes and TV boxsets. Like this Friends boxset, my absolute favourite show ever. I mean, who doesn't love Friends? Here, I keep my perfumes and candles (they are never lit but I think the little glass this one came in is really cute). A recent addition to the box is 'The Fault in our Stars' which I recently finished reading. I'm not a big book fan. I really struggle with reading and find it difficult to get into the story because I just so slow. However, I loved this book. I genuinely couldn't put it down. The characters are so likable and the story is just beautiful. I kind of don't want to talk about it too much as I don't want to spoil it for anyone (I was told the ending before I started reading it which kind of sucked) but I can't wait to see the film. It's out in the UK in a few weeks! Eeek!

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 5

I had so little motivation for revision today. It's starting to really drag now and I can't wait for it to all be over next week.

I braved the sun today, well, ventured as far as my garden anyway. My garden is pretty small and there isn't many flowers or anything really. Just the occasional dandelion, as pictured above.

That was my day. Nothing much but I'm making the most of staying in all day before school I'm back at school next week. Just watching the Big Brother Launch right now. My summer TV appears to be planned out. Hoping there are some good and interesting housemates this year as I really enjoyed the last series.

30 Day Snap Challenge | Day 4

I had planned to venture at least as far as my garden to take todays image but it had been so chilly and the weather over here is so unpredictable. One minute it's lovely and sunny, the next it's pouring with rain.

Today was a little more exciting. Apart from all the revision, my lovely mum brought me a new phone. I have been phoneless for over a week now so I'm very happy to be able to text all my friends again. Yay! Also, I finally painted my nails, although they are fairly stodgily done. Wow, I really have nothing going on in my life! Sorry for being so boring again.

30 Day Snap Challenge 2014 | Day 3

Unfortunately, my life hasn't got anymore interesting form yesterday. I'm still revising and my nails are still massively chipped. I haven't had the chance to fix this yet, however, tomorrow I have the time to sort them out. All I have to do is pick a colour which, for me, is the hardest decision ever. Is that sad? I love painting my nails and have collected almost every possible colour of polish that exists, making this 'small' decision a lot harder. I'm really into pastel shades right now; the pretty colours cheer me up when the weather's like this (rain, lots of rain). But other than that, I am undecided.

30 Day Snap Challenge 2014 | Day 2

So it's 10 o'clock and I haven't taken a photo of my day yet. Well done Taz! It's been another uneventful day for me. All I've done is revision, sing 5SOS songs and attend a dance class. Very little photo opportunity. But don't worry, I know exactly what I want. Sweets.

Haribo Tangfastics are one of my favourite sweets but I wanted a better way to store them then in their packaging as they tend to fall out when I'm packing them away. So, using an empty jam jar, I found a cute alternative that doesn't allow my sweets to escape from the bag when I'm not paying full attention. I mean, who wouldn't wan this little jar hanging around their kitchen and brightening up the place?

Argh! Apologies for the horrendously chipped nails. Must re-paint them.
I'm sorry these photo's aren't top quality and a little unrelated to my day. I'll try and take a non-food related image tomorrow.

Sunday 1 June 2014

30 Day Snap Challenge 2014 | Day 1

I've decided to do it again! Sinead from Dreaming Again (great blog by the way, check it out) has reorganised the popular challenge created by Sprinkle of Glitter last year and, since I enjoyed it so much last year, I'm doing the 30 day snap challenge again. Basically, the challenge involves uploading a photo everyday with an optional short description of my day or a story that explains my photo for a whole month. By the end on June you'll all be sick of me.

It's been a fairly uneventful day. I'm still revising for my final exam next week and I have seriously lost all motivation. Maths is hard and, no matter how much great music I play on my iPod, it doesn't get anymore exciting. However, rediscovering songs that I haven't heard in ages is the best feeling. Anyone remember Neon Trees Everybody Talks? Love that song.

But, to cheer me up from the revision blues, my lovely Mum made me this gorgeous chocolate fondant pudding. I think the recipe is originally by Gordon Ramsey and it's my absolute favourite desert. I am a total chocoholic and Guernsey ice-cream is simply the best in the world. Okay, so it may not be the healthiest thing on the earth, but the melted chocolate centre makes you forget the excessive calories it contains. It's just divine.

Last year I didn't have much faith in myself to actually complete this challenge, but I did and I'm proud of that. But this year, I want to improve the quality of the pictures I upload as a lot of them last time were terrible! If your taking part, let me know. I would love to follow your challenge, lets do this together! I've gone way too cheesy now. See you tomorrow.
