The Host

Filled with the perfect combination of romance and violence mixed with hot guys and the magic of alien life, 'The Host' will please both teen girls and boys with its dream of Sci-fi romance. Based on the book written by the creator of 'Twilight', aliens are becoming the new vampires.

Today was the first viewing for 'The Host' at my local cinema so I went to see it with my sister and a group her friends. (Now it sounds like I have no friends of my own!) I was really excited not only because the trailer looked really good but it was the first time I've been to the cinema for nearly two years! I live quite far from my local cinema and I don't have a car so I have to get the bus there. Usually my friends go in the evening when buses aren't running so I can never make it. The cinema has recently been re-vamped so it was great to have a look around.

The Host is set in a world that has been taken over by aliens who implant themselves into the bodies of humans and have taken over most of the population. Only a few remain without the alien parasite taking over their memories and minds. However, there is hope for mankind as Melanie resists her parasite, Wanderer, and directs it to save her loved ones.

I don't often enjoy Sci-fi films and I'm not an addicted fan of 'Twilight', but I really liked this film. The way Melanie doesn't give up to save her brother and the others really spoke to me and the story-line,  although a bit complicated, was really good and interesting. What really got me was the eyes of the infected people; the bright, light blue circle around the pupil of the eye I thought looked really powerful and beautiful.

Now, I'm not good when it comes to rating films, but, out of 5, I would definitely give 'The Host' a 4. This futuristic fantasy is a complicated love story that I really recommend you watch. Love found in the most unlikely place just seems like the teen dream which pretty much sums up the film.

P.s

Now for all you clothes lovers, here's the fashion bit. It was absolutely freezing cold today so I decided that warmth had to beat style. My key was layering. A denim look shirt over a geek t-shirt paired with disco pants and boots created a fairly laid back look, perfect for the cinema. Add a zip-up hoodie and warm winter Parker to keep out the cold.

Easter Playlist

Hey, it's the Easter holidays! And, as I'm in my final year of GCSE's, I'm stuck doing revision for most of the next two weeks. The only thing that gets me through revision is music so I thought I would share some of songs that are currently stuck in my head. Maybe you might discover something you haven't heard of yet...

22 - Taylor Swift: This song just hasn't left my head ever since I first heard it. It is so catchy and it makes me just want to jump up and dance.

Thrift Shop - Macklemore and Ryan Lewis: Yes, this is still stuck in my head. I don't know what it is about this song, whether it's the crazy music video or the whacky lyrics, but it just makes me smile and I love it.

Dumb - Tich: I first heard about Tich at a music festival in Guernsey and her performance there was really good. I really like her new single as its fun and great to listen to.

+ - Ed Sheeran: Ok, so it's an album, but I love every single song on it. Ed has an amazing voice and the album is constantly playing on my IPod ever since I brought it. You can really tell how heart felt the lyrics are in each song. It's perfect to relax and is so easy to listen to.

Stay Out - Nina Nesbitt: Think of a female Ed Sheeran with blonde hair and I think your there. Nina's songs are so easy to listen to but this one is my favourite. It's her latest release and it has a lighthearted feel and a catchy beat. If you haven't heard of her yet, I seriously recommend her.

So there you go. Now, music is not my strong point but hopefully you enjoy the small selection of tunes I've picked.

Candy Delivered To Your Door

Living in the UK, I always hear about sweets and chocolate from America but I have never had the chance to go over there and try some. And now, I don't have to!

My sister discovered a website called americansweets.co.uk which delivers American candy to the UK. This made us super excited and we ordered lots from this site. And, although shipping wasn't cheap, our order came very quickly.

We brought sweets and chocolate like Twizzlers, Candy Corn and Baby Ruth bar. On top of that, they also do American crisps, drinks and cereals, so naturally my first thoughts are Lucky Charms. We also brought a packet of cookie dough Pop-tarts and much more!

So, if you have recently visited the US and miss the food or, like me, you're just curious of what the fuss is all about, do treat yourself to some candy, you deserve it!

Prom Worries

The things that worry me about prom:

1. I won't find the perfect dress

2. The dress will be too small
3. The dress will be too big
4. The dress will break on the night
5. I won't find any shoes that fit me
6. The shoes won't match the dress
7. The heels of my shoe brakes
8. I ladder my tights
9. I fall over in front of everyone
10. My make-up looks horrible

11. Someone turns up in the same dress as mine
12. I'll spill food or make-up on my dress
13. I'll dislike the food they serve at the venue
14. I will be the only one dancing
15. No one will want to dance with me
16. I won't be able to dance in my shoes
17. My hair will look terrible
18. My hair will mess up half way through the event
19. The weather will be bad and ruin my outfit
20. They will refuse me entry to prom for no reason

Now, if you are like me and have prom this year, these things probably worry you too. But, it shouldn't. Even if any of these possibilities happen you shouldn't let it ruin your night. And, by worrying about it, these things are more likely to happen. So, turn that worry into excitement for the biggest event of the school year.

The Ultimate Teen Pamper Party

Got a free evening this week or just want to relax with a couple of mates. Well, I've got a plan for  you.

I thought a great idea would be to hold a pamper party. It's really simple to do. Grab your favourite mags,  nail varnishes, face masks and some great tunes and invite some friends over for a good pampering session.

I don't think this is an original idea of mine but I had one at the weekend and everyone really enjoyed it. Especially with the current chilly weather, I don't really feel like going out places so inviting friends over is a preferred alternative.

Sugar Crush-ed

Sometimes, no matter how hard I search, I can never find a body wash that I really like. That is, until now.

I recently purchased Soap and Glory's Sugar Crush body wash from Boots after hearing people rave about it on the Internet and I am impressed. One of the best things about this product is its citrus scent which just smells of sweets, absolutely amazing. It also leaves my skin feeling really soft which I think is very important for a body wash. A real big plus for this body wash is its bottle, it looks really cool. The bight pink and lime green will brighten up any bathroom!
