#OOTDFridays Number 27

Well, odds are you have either been re-watching some of the amazing performances from the Brits last Wednesday, constantly hitting the replay button on THAT fall (sorry Madonna) or have had your brain completely frazzled over the most pressing question of the decade; is the dress blue or white? I wanted to take a break from all of that and have a go at keeping up with #OOTDFridays. I mean, two weeks in a row has got to be some sort of record!

It's another monochrome look to add to my collection (I promise I do own some colourful clothing). I brought this skirt on the weekend and have been desperate to wear it ever since. This vertical striped beauty has such a flattering fit and is so comfortable to wear because of the elasticated waist on the back. It's also a good length. As I am rather short, skirts can sometimes be a tad long on me and not look too flattering. On the over end of the scale, I'm not a huge fan of micro-mini skirts; there is a point where a mini skirt becomes just a big belt and I don't think that is flattering look either. However, this one is perfect. I'm also wearing my waitress shirt. I think it might just be the way I wear it but, to me, it looks like something a waitress would wear. Add a gold necklace, plum lipstick and ankle boots to jazz it up after a whole day of wear at sixth form and we have our smart monochrome look.

Shirt: Miss Guided | Skirt: Miss Selfridge | Boots & Necklace: New Look
Time to place you bets on how long I can keep up this blogging streak. Honestly, I'm feeling good about this. I finally feel on top of everything and I'm in the zone.

Silly pose of the week: I call this the 'imaginary cup'.
I'd love to know your opinions on the look so please do leave a comment below.

Two Blogging Years!

I've just reread my first ever blog post and my post celebrating my first year of blogging and can't help noticing how different I feel now then I did back then.

Everything was happy and ever so optimistic, but now I see the scary future and the optimism has drained out of me.

I'm in a place where everyone around me, regardless of their age, are finding success with their individual talents, traveling the world and making tonnes of friends in the process while I'm stuck here barely passing school. Maybe that's an exaggeration, I have had two university offers but the more I think about it, the more unsure I am about going. I feel as though I should know what I like doing or what I'm good at but I don't. I love dance; the idea of completely giving it up by summer scares me but I'm also a terrible dancer and that path holds no career opportunities for me. I'm good at photography but right now I'm procrastinating because the volume amount of coursework I need to complete daunting. I can spend hours working and still feel like I've got no-where with it. Over time, it gets a little draining. There is just no obvious choice for me and having absolutely no goal for the future really doesn't help me here.

I started this blog to give myself a voice. I've mentioned this a billion times but talking isn't exactly my thing. I struggle having conversations with people I know fairly well, let alone complete strangers. Asking for help or answering a question in class feels impossible and just the idea of public speaking sets me off in a cold sweat. Hiding behind the Internet will probably never help to improve my confidence but I thought if I could find some individuals who would listen to me blabbering on about nonsense at least that would be something. Over the past two years, I've not exactly built up a jaw-dropping amount of followers but that's not what this blog was about. Each on of you reading this (all ten of you) are the reason I still feel happy to write the crazy talk that goes on inside my brain. I feel more at ease knowing someone knows, or even somebody out there cares what I'm saying and it means a lot to me. Okay, so I'm not exactly Zoella standard but the world doesn't need two Zoella's. I'm still happy doing my thing.

So maybe I'm not as optimistic about the future this year. Maybe I'm struggling to keep to my New Years Resolutions and giving up chocolate for lent is now a decision I wish I never made (you would not believe how much chocolate we have in this house!), but that's okay. I still have this blog and although school takes up most of my time, I always make sure there is a little bit a time to pop on here for a quick update. There is still plenty more to do and I hope you guys stick around for it!

Heres to another year of blogging!

#OOTDFridays Number 26

It's been so long since I did an outfit post and I really have been missing it. Being half-term and having bags of time, I thought it would be nice to revisit my favourite blog series.

Going for a casual look today, I partnered an over-sized checked shirt with a pair of ripped skinny jeans, adding a pair of converses for the ultimate casual look and continuing the monochrome style. My converses are completely wrecked but that's the thing about these shoes, the more you destroy them, the cooler they look. As it's still winter, my trusty parka is a necessity and the red bobble hat adds a hint of colour whilst simultaneously keeping my head snug.

Yes, I am in a graveyard. Many people find these places really scary and I was a little skeptical going here (I wasn't sure if anyone would find this a little disrespectful), but my personal photographer (a.k.a my Mum!) convince me it was fine. I am actually really happy with the resulting images, some have a little bit of a ghostly feel which accentuates the ever so slightly grungy feel of this outfit.

Shirt and Jeans: Top Shop | Coat: Boohoo | Hat: New Look | Shoes: Converse

As always, please let me know your thoughts in the comments. I really want to do more of these posts, however with my current time-table and the cold weather these posts may be delayed until the summer. No free-time being a student!

Silly pose of the week: what am I doing with my hair?

Seashells

The theme to my current art project is 'Coastal Scenes', so today I made the most of the sun and popped to the beach for a little photo shoot in the hopes it will give me some inspiration for my project. After finding some shells on the beach, I got a little obsessed. I liked some of the resulting images and thought that I'd share them here with you.

The shell of a crab. It links, I promise.

February Playlist

The sun has not held back this year, however the temperature is most definitely seasonal.
I have been incredibly busy the past few weeks so I am sorry for the absence. However, lets forget about me for now and get to the music.

James Bay- Hold Back The River: Winner of this years Critics Choice Brit Award, it was only a matter of time before James Bay crept into one of my playlists. I love this song. I mean, I really love this song. I believe the river is a metaphor for tears and when he says hold back he means stop crying so he can look into your eyes. (You know a songs good when it makes you actually think what it's all about.) It's just a simply beautiful song that the whole world should be listening to.

Fall Out Boy- American Beauty/ American Psycho: Adding a touch of rock and roll to the playlist with a spot of F.O.B. I particularly like the music video for this song, mainly because it shows a ballerina beating up a huge gang. Whoever said ballet isn't tough has most definitely been proved wrong.

All Time Low- Somethings Gotta Give: Zombie fans will love the video for this one. After a little break, the lads have come back with a classic ALT sounding track. I'm not entirely sure why, but there's something about All Time Low songs that I just find relatable and this is no different. I just can't put my finger on it...

McBusted- Before You Knew Me: I currently have this song on repeat, I am completely obsessed. It is the perfect mix of humorous lyrics and an infectious beat that is guaranteed to cheer me up after a long day at school. Still not convinced? Here's a line: 'you were S Club 7, now you look like a Slip Knot groupie.' Brilliant.

5 Seconds of Summer- Out of My Limit: Because it really isn't RazMaTaz-Girl playlist without a bit of 5SOS.

Sia- Elastic Heart: Obviously I can't avoid talking about this controversial video. Some people have been very offended by this music video and, although I understand their point of view, I do feel they have interpreted the video incorrectly. I feel that Maddie (incredible performance from her by the way) represents all the problems in Shia Le Boeuf's characters life. It is a strange video but it is also very powerful and highlights some pure talent. I feel that sadly the controversy is overshadowing this which is a shame.

Catfish and the Bottlemen- Kathleen: If only the album cover wasn't so crude... I've been struggling to remember the name for this song for months, then it popped up on the radio instantly reminding of this great track. Plus, what a great name for a band! If you're a fan of The 1975, I think you'll like these guys.

Circa Waves- Fossils: Ones of the little gems I discovered from listening to a lot of Radio 1 this past month. With the freezing cold weather at the moment, I sometimes like to listen to songs that feel a little more summery as a little pick-me-up from the winter blues, and this track is a new one on the list.

And that's all for this month. As always, I have the audio version of this playlist available here in case you want a listen. What tracks are you loving at the moment? Let me know in the comments below.
